Nick is spot on - nimble block and NTFS block do not directly link. A good rule of thumb is too ensure the Nimble volume is less than or equal too the application block size, and too ensure that both Nimble volume and application block size are less than or equal too NTFS formatting.
Ex: If an application is 8KB, and NTFS is 8KB, then the Nimble volume can be either 4KB or 8KB (all at 8KB is optimal), but not 16KB or 32KB – this would be a misalignment. If NTFS is 4KB, then Nimble can be 4KB but not larger, or else, misaligned.
Hope this helps. Paul
Need to create 64 TB LUN on Hyper-V cluster with 32KB/64KB allocation unit size. The LUN will be used for VDI purpose. As per the nimble best practices Hyper-V performance policy (4KB) to be used for Hyper-V environment. Will there be a latency due to partion misalignment if using a Hyper-V perf policy on that volume?
