The Windows hotfixes are only applicable if you are intending to use Nimble Connection Manager - part of the Nimble Windows Toolkit. If you have Hyper-V (GUI) then NCM is something you will want to take advantage of for connection management & MPIO - so you will need the hotfixes on each of your Hyper-V hosts.
If you are then mapping Nimble volumes directly to Windows VMs for data drives rather than using CSVs then it would be advisable to use NCM, and thus will also need to make sure the hotfixes are in place.
The hotfixes are needed to counter a few pretty severe bugs MS has encountered recently...!
I'm about to start a change for upgrading my firmware. Before I do, I've come across the Windows hot-fixes PDF provided by Nimble support in my preparation research.
They all appear to be relating to physical hosts that have direct connectivity to LUNs.
My question is, lets say I have a Hyper-V hypervisor and guest VMs also running Server Operating Systems (2008 - 2012 R2 )....
....I am wondering if I only need the hot-fixes to be installed on the hypervisor OS only? or do I need to install all pre-requisite hotfixes on all my guest VMs ?
